About us

 A brief history

We are an interior and exterior landscaping company based near Norwich.  We have been in business since 1989, although since 1st February 2006 we have been known as Ridyards Ltd.  For the first 16 years of our existence we were known as Lomax Interior Landscapes.  In 1999 we were asked by a couple of our clients to maintain their grounds, it was not until 2004 that we started to look more seriously at the exterior side of the business, it currently accounts for over 40% of our turnover.  We continued to trade as Lomax Interior Landscapes for 18 months, but as the grounds maintenance expanded, the 'interior' part of the name became a misnomer, hence the change to Ridyards.  The name Ridyards is derived from the middle name of Jonathan Compston, the managing director of the company.

Ridyards employs a highly motivated, experienced, enthusiastic, and dedicated workforce, who cover contracts throughout East Anglia.  Contracts outside this area are maintained by like minded conscientious companies, although the interior contracts are installed by Ridyards and quality is still retained by us.

We are very aware of the environment, and the world that we live in, and as a result have just embarked on having the company audited every six months for our environmental impact.  We are also starting a process which will result in achieving ISO 9001 and 14001 management and environmental standards accreditation.

KING STURGE - Ridyards is a preferred contractor to King Sturge.  This in itself a ringing endorsement of the qualities of Ridyards, and the commitment of our staff to maintain both interior and exterior planting to the highest standards as by a company of King Sturges' standing.  The contracts include maintaining Cambridge Business Park ; two gardeners are employed full-time on this high quality park.

MILLS & REEVE - Ridyards supplies and maintains the interior plants for this prestigious commercial law firm, in their Norwich , Cambridge and London offices, winning a national award for design and installation for the Norwich Office in 2004.

PORSCHE CENTRE NORWICH - Ridyards have recently won the contracts to supply and maintain the interior plant displays and the exterior grounds maintenance, for this newly built flagship Porsche dealership on outskirts of Norwich.

CAMBRIDGE SILICON RADIO (CSR) - Ridyards are the preferred contractor for CSR to supply them with all of their interior plant displays.  CSR are a world leader in BlueTooth technology, and have three large offices in Cambridge.

NORFOLK COUNTY AND NORWICH CITY COUNCILS - Ridyards supplies and maintains the plant displays in both County and City Halls.

NORWICH AIRPORT - Ridyards supplies all of the plant displays to the airport, including to the VIP lounge, the Arrivals area and the travel centres.

'THE NORWICH LANES' - Ridyards is the preferred supplier to The Norwich Lanes an organisation that promotes the interests of independant businesses in an historic area of Norwich.  We supply and maintain hanging baskets and window boxes to the businesses.
